Abstract
The approach of this theme is motivated by its timeliness in the national economy, determined by the importance of the rural environment, which is an important part of the society, as well as the value of the rural economy in Romania. The study contributes to the identification of financial contributions to the research field specific to the rural environment and to the knowledge of the situation regarding the workforce, especially the researchers in the field concerned, aspects regarding the economic dimension of the Romanian rural environment, through a quantitative analysis. The defining element of the improvement of the Romanian rural space is the adaptation to a new model, widely encountered worldwide, that of the sustainable development through the transition to the specific model that contributes with added value generating development stimulated by the interest for knowledge and innovation, constantly improving the quality of life of the inhabitants and creating synergy with the natural environment.
